The North Node is at 27°40′ Aquarius and the South Node at 27°40′ Leo, mean node. They have been on this axis since August 18 and move to Capricorn and Cancer on March 7, 2028.
The Moon crosses the South Node Wednesday at 1:19 AM.
North in Aquarius, South in Leo: learning to belong to the many, after a long season at the center of the stage.
With the North Node in Aquarius and the South in Leo, astrologers read the season as a turning from the one toward the many. Leo is the inheritance: the need to be special, the warmth that wants an audience, the drama that keeps the self at the center. Aquarius is the door: the group, the cause, the cool gift of being one among equals. The tradition treats these months as a season for friendship and for the future, for the invention that serves everyone, and it places the eclipses on the individual and the collective, on fame and on fellowship.
Two points where the Moon’s road crosses the Sun’s. Nothing lives there, and every eclipse happens there.
The Moon’s orbit is tilted about five degrees to the Sun’s path, so twice a month she crosses it: once going north, once going south. The two crossing points are the nodes, and they are not bodies but places, empty degrees of the zodiac that the Moon passes through the way a swimmer passes the lane rope in a pool, twice a length, without ever touching it. They drift backward through the signs, a degree every nineteen days, and take eighteen years and seven months to go all the way round. When a New or Full Moon falls near a node the three bodies are in a line, and the Sun or Moon is eclipsed; this is why the old astronomers called the nodes the Dragon’s Head and Tail, the mouth that swallows the light and the tail that lets it go. Moondark shows the mean node, the smooth average position; the true node wobbles a degree or so either side of it and the difference matters only to specialists.
