Moondark collects no personal data. No name, no email, no location coordinates, no advertising identifiers, no contact list, no calendar, no anything. The app runs entirely on your device. There is no Moondark account, no login, no server. The website counts visits in aggregate, without cookies and without identifying you; see "Website visit counts" below.

Moondark is a contemplative astronomical app for iOS, Android, and the web at moondark.app. Moondark is published by Peptidings Holdings, LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (the operator referred to in this policy as "we," "us," or "Moondark").
This policy describes how we treat information when you use the Moondark app (the "App") on iOS or Android, or the Moondark website at moondark.app (the "Site"). The App and the Site together are referred to as the "Service."
We want to be specific so there is no ambiguity:
The App performs astronomical calculations locally on your device. To do this correctly, it needs to know your device's current time and your time zone. Time and time zone are read from your operating system using standard public APIs. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party by the App.
The App may store the following on your device only, using your device's standard local storage:
None of this information leaves your device.
If you reinstall or delete the App, this on-device information is removed automatically by your operating system.
The App offers an optional tip jar. If you choose to leave a tip:
Apple, Google, and Stripe each have their own privacy policies governing how they handle payment data. We do not control those policies.
Moondark offers optional local notifications (e.g., a notification before a void of course period ends, if you enable that). These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely by your device's operating system. Moondark does not operate a push notification server. We never see whether a notification was delivered, opened, or dismissed.
If you have notifications enabled, your device performs the scheduling locally based on the App's astronomical calculations. If you disable notifications in the App or in your device's system settings, no notifications are scheduled.
The App is built with open source software. The library that performs most astronomical calculations is astronomy-engine (MIT license), an open source project by Don Cross. Open source libraries are bundled into the App at build time and run on your device. They do not transmit information to their authors or to anyone else.

Moondark is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children—and because we do not collect personal information from anyone, this position is not difficult to maintain. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information through some means we have not anticipated, please contact us so we can address it.
Moondark is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your interaction with the App and the Site (which involves no personal data collection by us) is governed by United States law and this policy.
We do not trigger most of the operational requirements of GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, or similar privacy laws because we do not collect personal data. We extend their protective spirit anyway: if you have any privacy-related question, request, or concern, contact us and we will respond.
The Site at moondark.app uses no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking cookies. The Site may use a small number of strictly-necessary technical cookies (e.g., to remember your light/dark mode preference)—these stay on your device and are not transmitted to us.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or cross-site tracking technology on the Site.
The Site is hosted by Cloudflare and uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate: how many pages were loaded, which pages, the general region and device type, and which site linked to ours. It sets no cookies, does not use fingerprinting, does not track you across other sites, and gives us no way to identify or contact any individual visitor. We use these totals only to understand whether people are finding the Site. Cloudflare processes this information under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
The App on iOS and Android includes no analytics of any kind.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will note the new effective date at the top and (for material changes that affect what we collect or share) post a notice in the App and on the Site for at least 30 days before the new policy takes effect.
We do not maintain a mailing list, so we cannot email you about policy changes.
