What is a Moon void of course?

The Moon moves faster than any other body in our sky. She circles the zodiac in twenty-seven days, passing through each of the twelve signs for about two and a half days at a time. As she travels, she meets the Sun and the planets at specific geometric angles—aspects, small conversations completed at exact moments.

A void of course is what comes between the Moon's last aspect in a sign and the moment she crosses into the next. She is no longer in conversation with anyone. She is traveling alone.

Voids happen between every pair of signs, twelve times a month. Some last minutes; some stretch most of a day. What astrologers across thousands of years have observed is this: the void is poor soil for new beginnings, and excellent soil for finishing what is already begun. For rest. For dreams. For the silence between two things, which is its own kind of intelligence.
